Stefano Mazzoli is on a roll, making 4 birdies on the second nine to push the Frogs to -1 on the day (+29 overall) with 1-4 holes to play. That includes the par-4 seventh, where TCU lost a half-dozen shots yesterday. If they can hold their current position, they will not only make the cut but be only a shot out of the top 8 going into the final round of stroke play. Current cut line is +34.

Looks like the team is getting comfortable with the course and playing well. Getting to the last medal round has been our bugaboo recently so this is a big step. I believe that we get to match play.

GO FROGS!!

GO FROGS!!

The Frogs caught and passed Clemson on the final day at Regionals, so no reason they can't do it again (Clemson currently in 8th).

With three of the top four teams being Big 12 teams, it's likely that the Frogs will face a conference foe in the quarters if they make it through. None of the teams at this level are pushovers, but I think TCU is a team that Ok State, OU and UT would not want to see in match play. TCU tied OSU in match play in the fall, and the Frogs beat both OU and UT at the Big 12 Tournament.

Windy day today in Fayetteville and the course appears to be playing very tough. Most of the teams starting on the back 9 are 10-over or more around the turn. TCU has fallen back to T12 and seven shots out of qualifying. They'll need to turn it around fast to advance to match play.

TCU counts two scores in the 80s and never threatens, finishing 15th. Still a good outcome for a team that never cracked the top 25 during the year.

Hayden Springer goes out on a high note with an even-par round and finishes in the top 30 individually (several players still on the course).

Thanks to the deep and talented senior class for a great year. Best of luck to Ravetto, Fisher, Maclean, Mazier, Mazzoli and Springer.

TCU alum Angela Stanford played a practice round yesterday with current Frog Sabrina Iqbal. Both have afternoon tee times tomorrow for round 1 of the U.S. Women's Open.

Good luck to both Frogs!

Angela Stanford and Sabrina Iqbal both improve on their first-day scores at the U.S. Women's Open, but neither will be playing on the weekend. Stanford made three birdies on her final five holes to get back to +6 (76-72); Iqbal shot +9 (78-73).

While Sabrina surely hoped for more, it's still a great experience for a rising college sophomore to spend a week alongside the best female players in the world.

Congrats to Sabrina Iqbal and Greta Bruner for making the all-Big 12 women's team. TCU was the only team besides Texas to place more than one player on the team.

Paul Barjon has been playing some very good golf this year. Monday-qualified for the Valero Texas Open, nearly advanced from a local U.S. Open qualifier (lost in a playoff), and now this, which gets him into his second event this year on the big tour:

One of the best things about the U.S. Open is watching exampt tour pros work to qualify for a spot. Congrats to Tom Hoge, who led the qualifying field in Milton, Ontario, nabbing one of 4 qualifying spots in a field of 37.

Look for Tom next week at Pebble Beach!

Congrats to Stefano Mazzoli and Hayden Springer on making the All-Big 12 team, and the Mazzoli, Springer and David Ravetto on making the all-Central Region team.

Mazzoli and Ravetto both posted under-par season stroke averages, of which fewer than 10 have been posted in TCU history. This is the first year that TCU has had two under-par season averages in the same year--and it would have been three if Springer had finished two shots better. Mazzoli accomplished the feat in back-to-back years, the only Frog other than Julien Brun to do so.

Two weeks ago Paul Barjon was toiling on the Mackenzie tour, where his 6th-place finish at the Canada Life Open earned him the Canadian equivalent of $5,400 USD.

But he won the following week, earning USD 27,000 and a spot in this week's RBC Canadian Open. Today, after shooting 67-68 on the weekend to finish T20 (along with Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas), Barjon banks (per this breakdown) approx. $79,257.

So glad to see him get a payday that can help continue to finance his career. Had he been three shots better, he would have qualified for both the next regular tour event and the British Open (as one of the top three not-yet-qualified finishers). But still a fantastic result. Congrats to Paul.
