Bills sign defensive end Jerry Hughes to 2-year contract extension

The Buffalo Bills have made certain that Jerry Hughes, their best pass-rusher, isn't going anywhere for awhile.
With Hughes due to become a free agent after the 2019 season, the Bills made what they felt was a necessary pre-emptive move Tuesday by signing the veteran defensive end to a two-year contract extension worth a reported $23 million.
"In my tenure here, he's been the most effective edge rusher we have," General Manager Brandon Beane said by phone from the BLESTO scouting meetings in Florida. "And they're hard to come by. These guys don't hit the market, and I truly believe Jerry would be very sought after."
