Anyone stayed in Miami? Going there for a 3-day convention in early February and never been. Convention is at Marlins Park and Hotwire has nice looking places all over the map.

Curious to know what part of town I can stay in that has a lot of good restaurants/attractions nearby that hopefully isn’t also forever away from Marlins Park (which is just outside of downtown).

Also, any can’t miss food recs? Going by myself so no $$$$$ places.
Never been, but Miami was the featured destination in the TravelZooTop20 this week:

I'm headed to the Dhamma Siri Southwest Vipassana Meditation Center in Kaufman just outside Dallas.

I'll be there for a 10 day silent meditation retreat.

It's been planned for over a year now.

I learned about Vipassana a couple years ago in my World Religions class at TCU with Dr. Mark Dennis. We watched a documentary Doing Time Doing Vipassana and it struck a chord with me. There happens to be a renowned center in Kaufman so the pieces fit into place for me to attend.

There's been some facinating studies in the past decade that link meditation to neuroplasticity in the brain:

I'll be there through the TCU bowl game and Christmas.

Kaufman? I think Stormy Daniels lives out there. Let us know if you meet up with ol’ Horseface.

A man wanted to become a monk so he went to the monastery and talked to the abbot (the head monk). The abbot said, "You must take a vow of silence and can only say two words every three years." The man agreed.

After the first three years, the abbot came to him and said, "What are your two words?"

"Food cold!" the man replied. The abbot made sure the meals are not cold.

Three more years went by and the abbot came to him and said, "What are your two words?"

"Robe dirty!" the man exclaimed. The abbot ordered his robe be washed.

Three more years went by and the abbot came to him and said, "What are your two words?"

- "Bed hard!". The abbot made sure the mattress got re-stuffed.

Three more years went by and the abbot came to him and said, "What are your two words?"

- "I quit!" said the man.

"Well," the abbot replied, "I'm not surprised - you've done nothing but complain since you got here!"

Was swamped this morning and did not get to the signing day thread until after 3. Caught up with recruiting in a matter of minutes without any of the usual "will that player sign" concern.
Great job by Moose today, as always. Look forward to T0p's headlines the next few days.

Lost my wallet at some point today. Been looking all over for it for about six hours now. Turned over every inch of the house, my car, my garage, and retraced my entire route everywhere I went in the car today. Still no luck.

No charges on any of my cards, so I don’t think anyone has it.

Guess I would rather lose that than my phone because it’s easier to replace and I only had one dollar cash inside, however, this sucks!

I have the worst tendency to set things down whenever I need two hands to carry something, and then I forget where I set the original item. I am sure I will find my wallet in the freezer or something stupid like that.

You need Tile. You could then use GPS to locate it.

I hope it's at your house and eventually found. When I lose something like that I usually set something on top of it, or it gets accidentally knocked off a table and unknowingly kicked under the bed, for example

I appreciate all of the advice and comments. I thought only Tacoma would help with travel, all 3 employers are helping paying for all hotel stays and most of the travel. It's gonna be a tough choice. I can't even interview myself till March.

I can't even imagine how difficult interviewing yourself will be. Make sure you mix in some softball questions with the more challenging ones. At least you will know immediately how well the interview went.

My 9th grade English teacher let me write the test questions for our class over the book The Hobbitt. I made a 96. Frye story.

edit: “True” story. Her name was Mrs. Frye, though. Creepy autocorrect is creepy.

I meditate every morning for 15 minutes and sometimes at night as well. Couldn't imagine 10 days though. Seems tough! Good luck. Report back.

Reminds me of a story one of our older nurses told me. He was telling me how smart one of his nursing colleagues was and he said he knew it because they went to nursing school together. He said:
"I remember our final exam in nursing school. It was a 50 question fill in the blank exam. I was sitting next to Steve because he was the smartest guy in the class. I cheated off of him the whole test. It got down to the last question. He wrote in 'I don't know' and I wrote, 'I don't know either' and we both got 98's."

some scheissers broke into my truck last night.

Thank god I took the truck gun and golf clubs inside for some reason yesterday. Came outside and my glove box, center console, etc were emptied and [ steaming pile of Orgeron ] thrown all over the place.

EDIT: people get desperate this time of year, happened to some neighbors as well.
I got broken into in college. Lived on Cockrell right behind the bookstore. Car parked behind the house near the alley. Went out there and the golf clubs were taken out of the trunk, a few hundred CDs removed from the back seat, and Revos taken out of the console. Fortunately Napster had made my CDs mostly obsolete a few years prior and the summer internship at IBM bought me a brand new set of sticks. Still sucked arse, though.
