Kirk Saarloos could have been the Rice baseball head coach by Monday night. He was in Houston, and the paperwork was ready.

Instead, before it was dark, the Horned Frogs’ pitching coach and recruiting coordinator reaffirmed his commitment to TCU with a new three-year deal.

Nothing against Rice.
