Glad to see a Gaines mention. Watching the game again and he did have a couple of breakdowns but he played a helluva impactful game on D and on special teams. He not only got the pick but forced that weird delay fumble and made at least two probable TD saving tackles. Pretty sure the RB wheel and seam routes are a schematic issue more than a personnel issue.

Totally agree. Our scheme is vulnerable to backs and tight ends catching passes. Whether we go big or small, we have a very difficult time covering backs out of the backfield. Mixon last year and Anderson this year were two prime examples. I think Stanford picked up on that piece because they typically don't throw to their RBs but were clearly doing so last night.

Despite the losses, I think TCU's receiving corps just with Reagor, Turpin, Austin, Stewart and Thomas will be pretty danged good. The rest is gravy.

I don’t want to hate on Bunce who inherited a tricky position, but I REALLY hope we have a plan at kicker next season that isn’t Bunce, Hatfield, or Song. Our touchback percentage has to be among the lowest in P5, and FGs (even PATs) were iffy all season.

I’d even be happy keeping Bunce at PK as long as we can have a kickoff specialist capable of booting it out the back of the EZ.
We were 14-16 in FGs. Pretty damn good. 56-60 on XP could be better.

Would think Manning would start opposite Reagor with Hunt and Austin subbing in. I think Austin might move inside since he seems to lack top end speed and is more of a possession guy.

Gaines was a monster last night. He got burned on the wheel route, but aside from that he was impactful on seemingly every play. I felt like they got offensive and defensive player of the game awards wrong. Offense should have been Des White and defense should have been Gaines.

Sorry ... KH was the MVP and White was definitely the runner up to the MVP.
