GoFrogs: M. Tennis Stays Undefeated in Big 12 Play

Final Stats

FORT WORTH, Texas – Another sweep on Sunday gave the No. 16 TCU men’s tennis team its eighth straight victory and fourth over a top-15 opponent this season as the team scored the 4-0 win over No. 13 Oklahoma at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.

The Horned Frogs (13-4, 2-0 Big 12) won the doubles point for the sixth straight match as No. 21 Alex Rybakov and Guillermo Nuñez posted their fifth straight win and fourth over a ranked opponent by downing the No. 32 Sooner (12-8, 0-2 Big 12) pair of Alex Ghilea and Florin Bragusi, 6-2. Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson cruised to their second straight win with a 6-4 win on court three to seal the doubles point and early lead.

TCU got out to a quick start in singles by winning the opening sets on four of the courts. No. 3 Norrie continued his winning ways with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 28 Spencer Papa. Reese Stalder inched the Frogs closer to the match victory and a 3-0 lead with a straight-set win on court five. No. 78 Nuñez clinched the match and sweep with his fourth win over a ranked opponent as he downed No. 97 Bragusi, 6-2, 7-5.

Quotes from the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
“The boys played very well and it was a hard fought match. The score is a little deceptive since we did get off to a great start in all the first sets in singles. Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson did a great job in their doubles with all aspects of the doubles game. Guillermo (Nuñez) and Alex (Rybakov) continue to come through with key wins for the team. Coach (Devin) Bowen had it going on today since he swept all three singles on that side of the indoor facility. There were great performances from (Reese) Stalder, Norrie and Nuñez. We haven't beaten Oklahoma in Norman in a while so this was a nice win for our program. To start the conference 2-0 on the road at both the Oklahoma schools is something to feel great about and now we get to build off of it. We have a week off until we play our last nonconference match against a well-coached USF team at home next Monday at noon. Cameron is on his way to France for Davis Cup and I am on my way to Mexico for the same as well. We loved seeing tennis alumni and fans that came to support us today.”

Kinda crazy that this match was televised on one of the ESPN channels but couldn't watch our #3 baseball team. Enjoyed it though.

Although a number of TCU's games haven't been televised this year, I did watch portions of all three baseball games on the WatchESPN App, plugged into the TV. Dirtbag's game day threads usually have great info on how to watch.
