A few results from yesterday...

#5 Kentucky d. @#1 UVA 4-3 -- UK was missing their #1 player and UVA was missing their #2 player, so still a pretty even matchup. UK wins in a 3rd set breaker from Baadi at #3 singles. We should move up to #2 in the rankings if we beat UNC on Sunday.

#4 Mich d. @#11 Baylor 5-2 -- Baylor lost a lot from last year's team. Their 2 points were at 5 & 6 singles, which has been their strength early in the season.

@#2 Oh State d. #23 TX A&M 7-0 -- Buckeyes tend to steamroll people early in the year at home, and this was no different. Just 1 singles match went to 3 sets. Buckeyes have home matches vs UT and Baylor and road matches vs UVA and Wake prior to indoors. My guess is they win them all and look like a juggernaut heading into Chicago.

NCAA just ruled a women's player was eligible. Hopefully we get the same result for Pinnington. Side note, it's pretty incredible that an 18yo in the top 100 would opt for even 1 year of college.

Hopefully a harbinger of good things to come, as you said.

maybe a break from the grind and trying to have a bit of normalcy in their life, we see it more and more in college baseball players who opted for that life over riding buses and bad food so why not in tennis

I can see it more easily on the men's side. The women peak at an earlier age though. #1 Swiatek already has 3 slams at 21. Coco Gauff is 18. But she probably knows best. It's great exposure for the college game.

The Frogs have a very interesting match today in Chapel Hill. UNC looks like they're much improved over a year ago, when they were extremely ordinary. They added Princeton's #1 & 3 singles players as grad transfers, and they've both been solid. They also have a freshman playing #3 who has yet to drop a set. Their only loss was a 4-3 decision at #8 South Carolina. UNC was up 3-2 with 2 matches heading to 3rd sets and couldn't take either one.

Was a nail-biter. Looked like we'd cruise after the first sets, but things went sideways in a hurry before the first sets ended. Still a quality Dub.
Yeah I was only able to follow on stattracker. After about 20 minutes of singles play Fearnley and Jong were each up a set. Would not have imagined both of them losing. So far, it seems like we have 2 very consistent singles points in Fomba (#3) and Gorzny (#6). It's on the other guys to scratch out a win or two elsewhere.

Lui deserves a lot of credit for turning his match around today. That's hard to do when you're the last point on the board and you're on the road. And he dominated in that 3rd set.

Buckeyes beat UT 4-0. They didn't drop a set in singles and their #1 guy didn't even play. They got a double bagel on Court 6. Just a total demolition. This is looking a lot like last year, and barring an upset they will be the #1 seed in Chicago.
