USC and UCLA to the Big 10?

BrewingFrog

Was I supposed to type something here?

If true, IMO the Pac is in the power position to add 6 and be the next 16-team league. Expect all to come from the Big 12 and WVU to head to the ACC with someone else…UCF or Cinci or Houston.

If that is the case, and an equal case could be made for the BIGXII eating the rump PAC, then one of these Conferences will die. Who stands to benefit most from the Death of a Conference?

I'm not buying it. The pac is literally on the edge of the cliff. Waiting to be picked apart, they're just too arrogant/Elitist to understand that skiff is taking on water.

Agreed …Big 12 is dead man walking …we are by far the most attractive Big 12 school because of our location and recruiting base …that would be the only reason B1G might kick the tires on us …all their members would love to play a game in Texas once every three years, same with Pac-12 key words in their statement “potential members” they are going shopping and will want to do it fast. Finally, ESPN desperately wants the B12 to blow up so it’s going to happen only a matter of time!

Yep, which one does ESPN want to survive? That’s the one that will live

ESPN is not going to let Fox have a major cfb monopoly of the entire mtn/pacific time zones …they will push hard for the P12 to expand

ESPNs absolute dream would be to blow the B12 up fast enough to get UT/OU to the SEC quicker then 2025 but it’s probably too late for that …Right now it’s basically Fox (B1G) and ESPN ( SEC) carving up the pie …we will see who gets the bigger slice, which is why I think we might be attractive to both of them…location, location, location

Impossible to believe these are random changes that are being announced so piece meal. Gotta think there is a grand scheme in place and they have just concluded that these slow, piecemeal announcements will creates less anger and pushback.
You're suggesting that there might be a couple of external influences that have mapped out their desires for the the "major" college football landscape and we're all just along for the ride rather than just some organic uprising of schools on the west coast that want to play teams in Maryland and New Jersey?

TCU is going to be in a conference with smu and north Texas soon.
Exactly

Sadly, we are done when it comes to playing major college football come 2024. Anyone not apart of the mega conferences will be regulated and treated like FCS schools currently are. No national exposure, no being involved in Top 25 polls, no access to their playoff, token televising of December postseason games, otherwise the games are streamed on ESPN+

At least in CUSA/MWC we had a chance to be relevant nationally if we had a good season. Once the super conferences are set up we will be shut out entirely. The only possibld use for the non super conference teams will be to be scheduled as a non conference body bag warm up game.

I’ve got nothing worth sharing, sorry. Everybody is shocked, way more so than with TX/OU.
How? This was inevitable. The notion of a post OU/UT Big 12 being a power conference was always stupid and foolish. The definition of power conference is whatever ESPN, SEC and Big 10 say it is. There was never going to be any playoff expansion, the only playoff expansion we will see will be to accommodate the new playoff that only allows those in the super conferences to participate in

How could the TCU admin be so blind to not see the inevitable super conference NCAA breakaway coming?

Even if they did see it coming, nothing could be done about it anyway.
