Caitlyn eagles 15! That brings her back to +2 and gives her half a chance. Leader is -1. Check out the broadcast; she'll probably get some camera time on her last 3 holes.

Edit: Bogey-bogey finish for Macnab leaves her on the verge of a top-10 finish.

Macnab finishes solo 11th in the biggest amateur event outside of the U.S. Women's. She beat the top-ranked and third-ranked amateurs in the world.

LSU player Latanna Stone boots a two-shot lead with a double-bogey, bogey finish, handing the title to a 16-year old high school sophomore with a slouch and a bucket hat (who just shot 69 at Augusta).

TCU men will be on the course momentarily on the Cattail Course at Whirlwind in the Phoenix area for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. They'll play 36 today, 18 tomorrow.

It's a big field of 25 teams, with a handful of good teams (Kansas) mixed in with some mid-tier teams. If the Frogs play well they could contend. Would be a nice finish to the regular season if they did. They'll be starting Oleson, Celli, Gums, Massey and Laussot. Frogs are paired with Colorado State, Fresno State and Loyola Marymount today.

Looks like Oleson has decided to explore the desert today. +6 through 4. So far, his teammates are surviving, but that puts quite a bit of pressure on the others to avoid a big number.

starting to feel like maybe it is time for a change - what do you and First Tee think?

Past time. Montigel deserves lots of accolades. He succeeded far beyond what Windegger brought him here to do. The program needs some new energy and direction, though.
Yeah, he has been pretty good for an assistant basketball coach.

Question about change is always, "What resources are you going to give a new coach to work with?"

Colonial and others have been exceedingly generous to TCU golf, and I hope they will continue to be, but the model of bumming time from nearby country clubs as the foundation for building a top D1 program is long past.

I'd like to see ADJD make his mark by enabling significant investment to help take the golf program to the next level.

TCU men struggled again today. Paired with the teams ranked 71, 79 and 99 in the country, the Frogs got walloped by a combined 42 shots. They are T15 in a field with only two top-50 teams.

Bright spot is Aymeric Laussot, who was the standout during TCU's NCAA play in Scottsdale last spring. He's T7 at -6 through 34 holes.

They'll wrap up round 2 and then play round 3 on Tuesday.

The TCU women were also in action today at the Silverado Showdown in Napa. I thought they were a day behind the men but was wrong. The Frogs started well, making the turn at +1, but things fell apart on the second nine, leaving them at +15. A couple of top-15 teams were also in double digits over par. Sabrina Iqbal had a 70, which is just a shot off the lead.

Men finish 19th in Phoenix. They seem to have packed it in early, but who knows--maybe they'll play loose at the Big 12 Championships next week.

Women wrap up play today in Napa. Macnab and Iqbal are again in the top 10 individually (Macnab is T3; might have a chance to win if the leader runs into trouble--she has a five-shot lead). Unfortunately, the rest of the team continues to struggle.

Macnab finishes solo 2nd in Napa in a field that included 23 other golfers in Golfstat's top 100. Nice work.

Sabrina Iqbal finished T20, which is very respectable, but Macnab picked up 9 shots in their tight battle to set TCU's single-season scoring record.

The Bruzzy Challenge is underway at Waterchase, and TCU is off to a good start. Trinity King is in the lineup, and she is at the top of the individual leaderboard early with a pair of birdies. As the only local product on the team, this event seems like a much better place than Arizona to get her back in the lineup. Hope she and the rest of the Frogs continue to do well.

TCU women are in 3rd place after 2 rounds at Waterchase. Final round of The Bruzzy Challenge is getting underway about now.

Great to see Trinity King with a strong opening round yesterday. She birdied her final hole to break par. Caitlyn Macnab shot 70 in the a.m. round and Sabrina Iqbal had a 69 in the afternoon. Iqbal is T8 heading into the final round. Macnab and Lois Lau are also in the top 20.

Frogs are 8 shots back of 2nd--not impossible, but catching Oklahoma State will be difficult. TCU is in a virtual tie for 3rd/4th/5th/6th, with all those teams just 2 shots apart. Holding onto third would be a good outcome. Would be great to see two top-10s.

University of North Texas is the host school and brought several individuals beyond their starting five. Other schools also have players competing as individuals, but none from TCU, which seems odd. Would have been good for Avery Blake and Sabrina Nguyen to get some competitive play.

Sabrina Iqbal sets a school record with a 63 to win The Bruzzy...and the Frogs catch and pass top-10 Oklahoma State to earn runner-up honors!

I was skeptical of their chances to catch OSU, and through six holes, nothing seemed to suggest they would. Frogs were 1 under for the day but they had been passed by UT for third and were 11 shots back of the Cowgirls for second.

Then they ran off what's probably the best nine holes in team history. Caitlyn Macnab made 5 birdies in a row and 6 in a 7-hole stretch. Iqbal topped that by making 6 in a row and 7 out of 9 in posting a 29. Lois Lau "only" made 3 birdies over the same stretch. TCU blew by UT and OSU to post the lowest score of the day (-12) and finish second. And Iqbal came from six back to win medalist.

Great day on the golf course!

Today's result also marks a lead change in the battle between Iqbal and Macnab for the TCU single-season scoring record. Iqbal entered the tournament 6 shots down to Macnab; she exited 3 shots up.

No female Frog has ever averaged less than 72 for a season (Iqbal holds the record at 72.03). She and Macnab now have sub-71 season averages, with the Big 12 Championships and NCAAs left to play. Glad to see these two young ladies pushing each other to excellence.

2019-'20 Iqbal: 1,945 shots (27 rounds--record)
2021-'22 Iqbal: 1,913 shots (27 rounds)
2021-'22 Macnab: 1,916 shots (27 rounds)
