maybe so, just don't see the reason to rush back and i am not sure what he has happened in the last 5 seasons to make gary a must hire

Totally agree. If it were me, I'd sit at home and read books all day/take naps. I'd also get one of those swimming pools full of money from Duck Tales. And I can't imagine what aspiring P5 fanbase is going to be happy with the announcement that their new head coach is a 61-year-old whose teams have sucked five of the last six seasons. I see there being a lot of criticism for that hire in a place like Blacksburg.

But Gary isn't me, and nor are P5 athletics directors. So I don't know...

If I were another school with an opening I would take Patterson over almost all those I keep hearing that are available. The past few years have not been very successful but he had many years that were. If you did it before you obviously know how to do it again compared to those who have never done much of anything. Patterson isn’t perfect but he knows football. He will get job offers, will he accept them is the only question. I hope he has success whichever he chooses.

Love me some Duck Tales, the original version of course.

That Donati said no offers have been made does not mean no offers have been made. Besides, you don't "officially" make an offer unless you are 100% sure the guy will accept. He said what he had to say.
Exactly. This isn’t the Oprah bit.

If true the other schools should be celebrating. Too much focus on strength and not conditioning!!

Are you unfamiliar with how sports work? When you're not winning you get criticized. Go 4 straight years without winning and you get criticized A LOT. What you did or didn't do 10 years ago has nothing to do with it.
Ha yea bud I'm very familiar with how sports work...are you familiar with how we got to be the program we are today or what the TCU football program was before GP? Because if not get ready because your about to see it from here on out.

Do you know what Duke basketball was like before Coach K?

Do you know what the food industry was like before McDonalds?

Do you know what China was like before Mao?

Do you know what retail was like before Sears & Robuck?

Do you know what travel was like before the steam engine?

Do you know what America was like before George Washington?

Do you know what Mexico was like before Cortes?

Do you know what Rome was like before Julius Caesar?

All of those questions are equally as relevant to the current state of the TCU football program.

We were 1-4 in conference play when Patterson left. Patterson is something ridiculous like 7-21 against current Big 12 coaches. We are going to be battling Kansas for last place in conference this season. I love GP for what he did to build this program but the results were no longer any good at the end.

I get that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but we got to the point where it’s going to be hard for the grass to be much browner on the other side.

We just learn from the past, so we don't repeat it, meaning horrid state of TCU football prior to Patterson. I will also remind you that there were many who thought hiring Gary was a huge mistake back then. Also he did not change the program over night but at least he was given the time to do it and he did it right (Take heed UT). I wish our AD had declared that a contract was issued and accepted instead of nothing yet. I worry that we will settle on a second, third or maybe a fourth choice. Of course we won't say this when we sigh the guy who enviably be called "the person we wanted all along". So we must have patience and yes many here will say we got the wrong person. Just don't begin harping about from day one please. That stick is getting old.

The timing of this process makes hiring a coach difficult. In the past you wouldn't hire one until the regular season was over. Now with the early signing date, it makes it more difficult if you are hiring a head coach from another school since they have to finish out their season. Unless you are hiring a coordinator, we are all going to have to wait another week or two.

I'd argue that if what GP built is no more sustainable than what SackLunch seems to be alluding to, then tear the statue down, because he didn't build much.

Not that I agree with SackLunch.

I wonder how long it will be before we hear if Lincoln Riley took the LSU job. If he does go and it is before the end of the season then chips will start flying as OU begins to look quick and hard. That would be fun.
