He didn't say that

Patterson likes how TCU QB Matthew Downing is competing

By JEREMY CLARK

TCU head coach Gary Patterson doesn’t know if or when starting quarterback Max Dugganwill be back this season, but he remains optimistic. The sophomore quarterback was discovered to have a heart condition during team protocol testing and has missed the past several weeks of practice.

On Monday during a Zoom conference call with media, Patterson says he doesn’t have a timeline for when the quarterback will return, but he’s hopeful that it could be this season.

If or when... this season. All of this is in the context of this season.

Medical retirement is not something that seems like a possibility right now unless there is an unforseen setback.

A congenital issue not know til now that takes over a season to recover from is quite concerning. That’s a retirement in my book. Who can name a congenital heart or lung issue (found from Covid changes) that takes that long to recover completely?

2022 DT Keithian "Bear" Alexander 6-4/340

TCU probably not in this one but overall he has been vague about his recruiting. Originally played at Terrell, then Dallas Skyline and now at Denton Ryan. Good relationship with the staff though.
