GoFrogs: TCU Stays Perfect, Tops ACU Tuesday
FORT WORTH – TCU remained perfect on the season with a 14-4 victory over Abilene Christian Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Five Horned Frogs had multiple RBIs in the game, led by three each from Porter Brown, Austin Henry and Gene Wood. On the mound, Riley Cornelio picked up his first career victory.

The Rundown
TCU scored early and often, picking up runs in six of eight offensive innings. The Frogs struck for a pair of runs in the first, highlighted by an RBI-double from Tommy Sacco and a run-scoring single from Gene Wood.

Austin Henry's bases-loaded triple pushed the lead to 5-0 in the second. He would come around to score on Wood's second hit of the game for a 6-0 lead after two.

In the third, Porter Brown launched his first career home run, a three-run shot, for a 9-0 advantage. Gray Rodgers hit his second home run of the season in the fourth as the lead grew to double-digits, 11-0.

The teams traded runs in the fifth. Abilene Christian took advantage of a lead-off hit batter to score its first run of the game. Wood answered the run with a solo shot to right in the bottom of the inning to make it 12-1.

Abilene Christian put up a three spot in the sixth, but that was as close as it would get. Hunter Wolfe got two of the runs back with one swing of the bat as he collected his first home run of the season in the seventh to account for the final score, 14-4.

On the mound, TCU used seven pitchers. Riley Cornelio (1-0) retired all nine batters he faced. Austin Krob and Harrison Beethe each pitched scoreless frame. Marcelo Perez fanned four in two innings of work. Drew Hill and Matt Rudis combined to pitch a scoreless eighth.

Stat of the Game:
9 – Riley Cornelio retired all nine batters in making his first collegiate start. The freshman from Colorado tallied a trio of strikeouts in his outing.

• TCU is off to a 4-0 start to the season for the first time since the 2017 season.
• TCU recorded double-digit hits and runs for the second straight game.
• TCU hit multiple home runs in a game for the second time this season.
• The TCU pitching staff recorded double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season.
• TCU played errorless baseball for the first time this season.

Mason Speaker made his collegiate debut in the sixth inning.
Rhett Maynard, Sam Thompson and Cruz Shope made their collegiate debuts in the eighth inning.
Porter Brown hit his first career home run.
• Brown recorded his second outfield assist of the year.
• Brown notched his first multi-RBI game of the season and the second of his career.
Gene Wood collected his ninth career multi-hit game and his fourth career multi-RBI contest.
• Wood hit his third home run of the season and the fourth of his career.
Gray Rodgers homered for the second straight game.
• Rodgers notched his third career multi-hit game and his second career multi-RBI contest.
Tommy Sacco tallied his first career multi-hit game.
Austin Henry collected his second multi-RBI game of the season and the 14th of his career.
Hunter Wolfe hit his first home run of the season and the eighth of his career.
• Wolfe tallied his second multi-RBI game of the year and the ninth of his career.

Next Up:
With the win, TCU improves to 4-0 on the season. The Horned Frogs hit the road for the first time this season when they travel North to take on Minnesota in a three game series starting Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on BTN+.

Looks like we are going to enjoy some really good offensive production this season. A couple of pitchers need to learn how to pitch with a big lead. Other than that a great night. Cornelio had a great outing.

Hope you are right,this bunch looks really good so far. Meador had a not-so-good outing, but he joined team with loads of talent and much potential-- maybe trying too hard for an early impression. Bet he gets it together and becomes what the coaches saw in him.
