Were you among those last year who said things like "Let's wait to see where we are at the end of the season?" And the commentary I'm reading and posting is most definitely not reflecting "one game".
No.... but did predict an 8-4 regular season. Now hoping for a Cactus Bowl invite …

Our defense is not playing with intensity. They are not all flying around to the ball like they used to. Don’t see as many celebrations after a good play. We look listless, soft, small, and we don’t play fast we are thinking way too much. The defense may just be too complicated right now. We don’t look right and something is very wrong. We are seeing a lot of transfers out.
This. They are not swarming to the ball much at all. That would have helped in tackling. Too many guys expecting someone else to get the ball carrier if their are more than a yard away. number 6 flatout watched they guy cruise down the left side line today.

After this week many questions have been answered. My expectations are much lower now and will just be hoping for wins instead of expecting them.

Our kids play all the time NOT to make mistakes. Sonnie coaches NOT to make mistakes. At this point, it appears the whole mentally is not to make mistakes. And that mentality and culture is Gary's doing.

I agree. One loss or even one losing season does not mean panic. Two or more? We shall see. I personally uphold coach GP in the highest regards for bringing the program where it is compared to the past. His success has raised the expectations of some people beyond reason at times, I think!! Go Frogs.
dude, we are working on season two of bad. we had a break from bad the current smew coach was on staff to offer advice. then back to it. we have not been consistent since 2015.

OK, those 3 wins were not special competitive wins, but they were by large margins, that included a lot of bench players. Yes, Our losses were to a presently ranked team and one that has a QB that is 4th in total offense in the country.

The concern should be the leadership … at every level. Coaching and most of the player performance Stunk most of the day. But it was one game. Let's see where we are at the end of the season, amd what choices GP makes to improve the program.

It’s way more than one game. Just this season alone we’ve come out looking really ready to play in maybe one game, and it’s hard to know if it was us or just that the opponent was so bad. The offense has been just brutal to watch in way too many games over the past 3+ seasons and now the defense seems like it’s been figured out to some degree.

Does not help that Gary gets too complicated in schemes. The scheme he ran in the Mountain West was better. now dbs are just bumping into each other and losing strides. and he keeps adjusting all the way up to the snap. our guys can't get set to read whats going on because they are looking at the sideline.

It's too scheissing complicated, the defense is still shuffling on snap count.

We had to know eventually that this could eventually happen. But still believe a big part of the poor performance is leadership.

The big picture as I see it is we have a coach who is almost 60 who has already stated that he isn’t going to be doing this a whole lot longer.....and if he just wants to do it a few more years and he isn’t willing to shake things up that doesn’t bode well. We can’t afford to get complacent as a program and when you have a coach who knows he can’t lose his job and who might not be willing to change things that need changing that’s a problem. A big problem.
