Des Moines Register: Defensive issues plague Iowa State in deflating loss to TCU

Tommy Birch, Des Moines Register

MES, Ia. — Iowa State coach Steve Prohm thought practice was going so well during the week, that his team had started making strides guarding the ball screen and limiting opposing teams from attacking the basket at will.

Turns out that it's still an issue.

TCU used Iowa State’s struggles against it all day, attacking the hoop non-stop during a 92-83 upset over the No. 16 Cyclones before an announced crowd of 14,384 fans at Hilton Coliseum on Saturday.

“We regressed in this game,” Prohm said. “But I thought in practice we were really good, though.”

The B12 motto in football and now basketball: "We Lost to little TCU, ergo we suck."

Almost every time we lose a game we talk about how we didn't play well.....much more than we talk about how great the other team is/was. Not sure why it should be different with other teams.

Admitted to the conference by necessity, TCU (and to a lesser extent West Virginia) has never really been embraced by the other members...and yeah, they usually express depression and embarrassment when non-winning against the Frogs....
