Shannon, Ryann, and I will be covering this season's Big 12 Media Days (Monday and Tuesday) here in Frisco. Today we kick off with the Frogs at 10AM and will post comments and insights from the first round of teams which will end with OU at 12:45. Next 4 years Jerry's World will host the Big XII Championship Game. Media Days will also move to AT&T for the next three years.

Big XII made a deal with the Vices Helmet manufacturer, the helmets are bit heavier but top rated when it comes to protecting players.

"With the Big XII aspiring for a NC, any move to expand the playoff?"

We have to be careful moving away from the current format since we [conferences] feel like we accomplished our goals with last year's playoff. Those discussions will be ongoing.

"When will College Athletes have the right to market their name and likeness?"

We were nearly there before. As the 9th Circuit takes on the current case this fall there might be a loosening of the rules. This is at the heart of current student empowerment. The logistics and practicality are difficult to fathom.

interesting. start-up out of seattle and until recently their helmets were ~$1,500 apiece. dropped that to $950 and curious if the big 12 deal drops that price anymore.

interesting articles about the company and curious if the price limits the number of game day helmet options for teams.

"Big XII is at a disadvantage with it's current format, are you trying to fight for all conferences playing the same number of conference games?"

We're [conferences] not going to be the same, people [rankings, CFP] need to be more discriminating by looking at who these teams play, but if I were in charge I'd make everyone play 9 conference games.
