I would have preferred an interview process

If Donati was chosen, it was with GP’s blessing. And it’s likely that Schlossnagle and JD gave him a nod, too. So I’m not going to second-guess it.

And outside of that, this guy seems to have built an impressive resume at such a young age. Hopefully this is a situation where the transition is seamless and the guy retires here. Who knows! I like the hire the more I read about him.

He appears to be one of the top ADs in waiting. I’m not up in arms I just think the interview process helps to focus the thinking of all parties. No doubt one of the top priorities was to make sure the new person is compatible with your top sport coaches. Hiring from existing staff seems to cover that base. On the other hand we have all seen people who were at their best as number twos. I’m not making a judgment just stating a personal preference
