UT coming for Del Conte?

Texas:
Mack Brown is making a push to become the next Texas AD, according to Geoff Ketchum of Orangebloods. However, Ketchum reports that Longhorns stakeholders have reservations about Brown’s fitness for the position and that TCU’s Chris Del Conte — who worked with Tom Herman at Rice — is the name most commonly mentioned for the job. Former Longhorn football player Mike Perrin has served as UT’s long-term interim AD since 2015, and interviews are expected to begin in earnest early next year.

With the recruiting classes that are coming plus the planned additional athletics facility upgrades on the horizon, plus the medical school, plus Gary, Schloss, and Dixon are now in the primes of their careers, watch out Stanford, we are coming for that Learfield Cup. This frog is permanently out of the bag.

CDC's legacy and statue will be cemented in Fort Worth on how he helps TCU and / or the rest of the Big XII on this next TV cycle / possible realignment that will start with negotiations around 2024. You can see how TCU is planning and preparing today so we are never shoved back out to the desert. Go Frogs! Beat OU!

We don't sponsor enough sports to even get in the top 10.

I’d give CDC, GP, JD, and JS whatever the hell they want at this point.

Hypothetical- all things considered, including age and potential length of future tenure, how would this board prioritize these? GP seems like the obvious #1, but if you think his retirement comes within the next 5 years, and the others have potential for staying 10-15 years, how does that change one’s answer?

1. GP
2. JD
3. CDC
4. JS

They are all great at what they do, but college baseball is significantly less important than football and basketball.

I grew up a college baseball fan and I personally care about it more than college basketball, but yes, college basketball brings in much more money and is a bigger deal on a national basis.

One of the biggest headaches at state schools, and it's getting bigger, is having to deal with politicians. Every school has its fans and boosters. Add pushy politicians and you make the job nearly unbearable.
