Total guess: Needs at least a -4 Sunday to get to 10th, a -5 round would be better and is clearly doable. Might need more though, based on some of the scores going up today.

Agree; some very good scoring today. While he moved up 21 spots today, his 66 only gained one shot on 10th position. He's four back of that group. It may take a round of -5 or -6 to make the top 10 now.

He doesn't need to finish 10th. If he moves up 1 shot he probably is inside the number. It all comes down to the number of guys he's tied with but somewhere around 20th with not many ties will be good enough.

That was my read based on the projected standings for several guys in the 130-150 range. Right now Shane Lowry projects to move up 18 spots (145 to 127) with a T9 finish. Rory Sabbatini at T11 projects to improve 9 spots, from 148 to 139.

J.J. needs a 9-spot bump from 134 to 125. So T11 may do it, but I think lower than 12th is iffy. I think that's because, with the current leaderboard, three guys are slated to jump him (Wagner, Varner, Lowry). If he can catch any of those guys it'll make a big difference.

TCU men kick off their season on Friday at Pebble Beach for the Carmel Cup.

TCU women are scheduled to start on 9/11 at The Woodlands. Not sure what the status will be for that tournament following Harvey.

Meanwhile, Tom Hoge went home to Fargo last week and waxed the field in the North Dakota Open, shooting 69-63-64 to win by 4. Nice of him to help the Dakotas Tour guys gauge the gap between the mini-tours and the big tour.

Interesting to see that our transfer from Texas Wesleyan, David Ravetto, is playing out of the number-one slot. Our other transfer, Hayden Springer from Tech, is slotted at number four.

Frogs finish the day at -9, currently second in a strong eight-team field (some teams still on the course). Pierre Mazier and Hayden Springer leading the way for TCU with 4-under 68s.

Oklahoma State is way out in front, currently at -21.

Edit: With play concluded, Frogs are in third, ahead of four ranked teams, including top-ranked Vandy. Big 12 making a strong showing. Team scores:

-21 Okie St.
-10 OU
- 9 TCU
- 6 Arky
- 4 Tech
- 3 Vandy
+ 1 UGa
+ 5 Ohio St.

Frogs with another good round today, matching yesterday's -9 for a total of -18.

However, TCU drops to fifth in the standings, as Texas Tech and Vanderbilt each had out-of-their-mind individual rounds (61 by Tech's Hurly Long, 63 by Vandy's John Augenstein) surrounded by other 67s and 68s.

Top 5 teams are within 14 strokes of each other, so plenty of opportunity in final round tomorrow.

Individually, Pierre Mazier is T4 at 135--five back of Long. Hayden Springer is T12 (138) and Turner Maclean T15 (140).

Frogs struggle a bit on the last day at Pebble but hold onto 5th place. They finish behind teams ranked 1, 3, 6 and 14; they finish ahead of teams ranked 31, 33 and 57. Good showing for a team that ended last year outside the top 50.
