TCU Construction Updates

They’ve been looking for land so this isn’t surprising. School will open on UNTHSC campus but future building will be closer to the hospital(s) they partner with. JPS is a crucial partner for the school. Both for students and providing needed residencies. It is not surprising they would look to locate nearby.

Bringing up security is kind of silly. UTSW has a partnership with Parkland. UTMB-Houston with Ben Taub etc. Med schools partner with major public hospitals because their students need training and the hospitals need all the help they can get. The professionals running the MD school and the hospitals secure their employees every day. They know what they’re doing.

I had heard it would be a collaboration between JPS and Baylor Scott & White in FTW.

First Look: New concert hall plans for School of Music

Construction on east campus will create a Creative Commons that will stretch from Mary Couts Burnett Library to the campus boundary at Cantey Street.

The School of Music building will be built across Greene Avenue between Princeton Street and West Lowden Street. In all, the commons with stretch the length of a city block and span 120,620 square feet.

Cranes should begin lining the skies this spring. The first project to go online is expected to be the new building for Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising. By fall, construction of the School of Music should be underway.

Just have to ask. What is a "medical incubation invention village"?

Don’t believe what you read. I have it on good authority (MUFON) that TCU is collaborating with the Illuminati and Masons to bring “pods” from the Groom Lake Test Facility to incubate future super doctors and athletes. The athletes will be implanted with chips that will not allow them to think in terms of litigation in the unlikely event their superior physiques are damaged.

No really, true story.

Construction on the new Fine Arts bulidng (east of Moudy) is set to begin next month, and the new school of music building is set to begin in May.

The final fine arts building design is a drastic change from the initial rendering. Instead of the Moudy-themed design, the new building will align with the main campus architecture and design. Rendering and more info at this link:

Classes will be held on both campuses, not just UNTHSC. They're only 2 miles apart.

Sure, but it will mostly be on the UNTHSC campus. They aren’t bringing cadavers down South University. Logistically it’s just silly to not primarily use the medical school space they already have.

New TCU Administration Building could break ground in as little as 11 months. Sadler would be renovated to house he Honors College, allowing AddRan to expand in Scharbauer.

So why is a new admin building needed?

They’re spread out all over campus and are trying to consolidate and get as many administrative departments as possible into one place. This also moves a major hub for guests near parking/street access and opens up Sadler for much-needed academic space. Enrollment is up and increasing and this is one of those things that alleviates some of the side effects of growth.
