Sort of. They were missing two out of their three thousand yard rushers (third was their QB). The back-up wasn't too awful since he managed 90 yards on fifteen carries.

In addition to the loss of their two top RBs..Nevada's 2009

season pass defense was ranked 119 out of 120 teams.

This undoubtedly accounted for the effectiveness of SMU's

passing game.

Nevada also had 3 starters on defense out as well. One was a captain I believe out for team rules violations and the other two for criminal behavior while on the island prepping for the game.
