Scout: 2011 SMU team remembers when they had no chance to upset TCU

It's been since 1984 since an SMU team started 3-0. That team beat TCU 26-17 in Texas Stadium to move to 3-0 and finished No. 8 in the country.

On Saturday, SMU will head 30 miles west of the site of Texas Stadium to try to beat TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Ft. Worth, something that hasn't been done since 2011.

In 2011, SMU faced a then ranked No. 20 TCU team that would go on to finish 11-2 that season. No one really gave that team a shot to beat the Horned Frogs, but June Jones' team went in and won 40-33 in overtime, which cost TCU a BCS Bowl berth.

SMU had a ton of returning seniors that year and the frogs had just graduated the winningest senior class in school history, which included Dalton, Kerley, Carder, and crew. I remember telling a friend that the ponies had a chance in that one.
So the entire premise of the article is flawed

We were out of sync the first few games, but got better as the season went along. We would have beat them by 3 TD's if we had played them later in the year.
