Reading this board after a loss is worse than...

  • Jumping into a swimming pool full of double-edge razor blades. (I stole that one)
  • Watching a porn film staring Rosey O'Donald and Bret Bielema.
  • Listen to an aggy brag.
Others, folks?

BTW, I generally don't read this board after a loss, but I looked today to see how the baseball game ended and paid for it. Thus this topic.
Liked for the "Weird Al" Yankovic reference

Game day threads are a complete beating, regardless of sport. That's basically what this thread is about.

I would like them to be something I can read to figure out what is happening in the game. Instead they have become a place to read irrational complaints about everything related to the teams.

I missed the basketball game against OSU so I read through the GDT to see how the game developed. Sounded like we started badly, got a narrow halftime lead and snuck out a win. Then I read elsewhere that we won by 20.

To me, GDTs have been rendered pointless and it's a shame.
I have said the same in other threads. We have some real thin skinned fans here who can’t handle any adversity. Anything less than perfection from every player at all times and it is nothing but criticism.

I think people are being a little too defensive about people typing anything negative about the Frogs. Gameday threads are the perfect place for praising good plays and venting about the refs, the coaches, or the players in the heat of battle. It's not the place to go for a purple tinted replay of the game. With hindsight, do the comments look silly or knee-jerk? Of course, welcome to the world of gameday threads, no different than any other school in the nation.

If a gameday thread feels like a roller coaster, it's because that's exactly what a sports game is, a wonderful rollercoaster of ups and downs that makes sports the best reality show on TV. They really aren't meant to be read with hindsight. JMO

Wasting your time - we are supposed to have threads that read like we are baking cookies and anytime something bad happens just say oh well - we are thankful for the past, etc

So in other words - why do we have a message board again?

Not one person said this.
Gets said in different ways about 10 times a game thread if anyone posts an opinion or observation that is contrary to the purple glasses model of a TCU fan

maniac has been told it alone about a dozen times between basketball and baseball threads - as if the people saying it to him are his wife or something

I think you are choosing to read posts in a certain way in which they are not intended.

I will give a broad example:

During the third game of the baseball season someone gets so upset at the team's play that they make the claim the team will go no better than .500. The response to that is it is game 3 and relax. This isn't saying anyone shouldn't get upset about boneheaded play but it's altogether silly and disrespectful to the players and coaches to call them out at this point.

No one is stopping anyone from melting down irrationally. But no one should stop anyone from calling them out for doing so. This position has been stated repeatedly.

Also, go back and look at the gdt from yesterday. People having meltdowns are also the people calling other people "idiots" and telling them how stupid they are. Maybe it's the irrational types that need to take a deep breath.

Yeah - you are right - no one around ever bags on other people for taking a different approach or calls them names or tells them to please stop...

They're gonna play 60+ games this year. This was game 3. End of story.
Just reading through this thread..... what a monumental beating so many of you are. It’s amazing that some of you seem to have carved out comfortable lives with well paying jobs and wives/children while at the same time having literally no ability whatsoever to deal with anything short of perfection from our sports teams without acting like a petulant 4 year old. SMH.
I guess you're "over this team" already. You really need to stay out of GDT's.
The problem with Maniac and many others is that they invest way too much of their personal happiness into the success of TCU. For me, TCU's performance, or any other sports team, has very little to do with my personal happiness and fulfillment of life. GP could go down like Briles and TCU could never win a game for the rest of my life and I will still have a life full of happiness, joy and content. It's a damn kids game played by young adults just starting to figure out this crazy-ass world. Life's too short to get hung up on stupid stuff like losing one damn game.
holy [ steaming pile of Orgeron ].....3 scheissing games into the season and already seeding talk.

that's it people....rpi is shot, chance of hosting a super is blown, frogs are destined for blue bell, and not sure if we even deserve to host a regional

What is the point in getting upset over game number 3 in a long season? Seems entirely pointless waste of energy to me. Tons of new players on the team and people still upset they didn't play a perfect series. I don't get it.
Congrats Maniac. You’ve won overreactor of the year and it’s only February.... pretty young to have blood pressure problems but you might want to wait until the day after to post in game day threads, basketball for sure.
He's right. I agree.

And since when did telling people to calm down become holier than thou?

This reminds me of the beating we took in Lubbock last year. Everyone was jumping off cliffs. I told everyone to be calm. I got roasted. The team went to Omaha. Wish I would have just let everyone jump.

Thinking some of you may need to remember where the word "fan" came from, why message boards were created vs sitting in libraries having "informed" discussions, or figure out how to make millions of your inherent knowledge that the rest of us don't have instead of telling those that go crazy they are infants...

Never mind. This is pointless.
