Glad they got him (assuming it is the perp). It's even more concerning that there's no apparent connection. Most of these types of crimes are committed by people known by or close to the victim. The random stranger attack is the type that is really difficult to protect against.

There may well be a connection, as both of them went to the U of Arkansas, at least briefly. They were up there at the same time. A real coincidence, then, if they weren't acquainted.

Give him the needle. Good riddance.

For the sake of her family, I hope this provides them some closure knowing the SOB isn't out there to prey upon other innocent women. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

Must be a connection especially since he lives in Plano.

Think the police were being polite when they say they are still determining connection.

Was told earlier in the week, they had a specific suspect all the time, just making the case, before the arrest.[/QUOTE

Was told the day after it happened by a neighbor that they had a "suspect" an ex relationship. They were confident in their source and weren't worried.

My daughter just sent me this email from the TCU Police Department:

From: "Rangel, Robert" <r.rangel@tcu.edu>
Subject: CRIME ALERT UPDATE
Date: April 28, 2017 at 4:31:46 PM CDT
To: All Students - Full <AllStudentsFull@tcu.edu>

This afternoon the Fort Worth Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect for the murder of a young woman that occurred April 10 near the TCU campus. Since April 10, we have hired additional police to patrol the TCU campus and neighborhoods in which our students live. We will resume our regular TCU police patrols in and around campus beginning April 30.
As always, we remind you to be aware of your surroundings and follow common safety practices as listed below.

SAFETY TIPS

· Always travel in pairs with trusted companions, especially at night or in remote areas.
· At night, walk in well-lighted pedestrian routes.
· Use shuttle service, Froggy 5-0 and other escort services when available
· Lock all doors and windows
· Increase lighting in and around the perimeter of your residence
· Keep bushes and other landscaping trimmed and designed to prevent areas of concealment
· Join neighborhood watch programs and encourage neighbors to do the same
· Install and utilize an alarm system
· Always verify and ask for appropriate identification from persons claiming to be authorized employees of businesses providing a service, particularly if you did not initiate a request for the service
· When reporting suspicious activity, be a good witness. Describe exactly what you observe with as many details as possible. Give complete descriptions such as sex, race, height, weight, hair color, clothing, etc.

If you witness any suspicious activity, please report it to TCU Police at 817-257-7777. For off-campus emergencies, dial 911. The best way to increase the safety and security of the campus community is to report suspicious activity before a crime can be committed.

The Campus Life Office in Sadler Hall, 817-257-7926, has resources and support services to assist any student who is a victim of a crime.

Gotta convince one of my former companies to start providing the drugs again. I don't think the use of anonymous compounding pharmacies is a viable long-term solution. I feel like Hornady, RBCD, Lake City, and others would provide effective alternatives without hesitation.

Echo the thoughts and prayers for the family.

Seems like a third year pharmacy student could whip up some pentothal and some pavulon.

If states are going to carry out executions, I never understood why a lethal dose of for example fentanyl was never an option. There are dozens of drugs that taken in too high a dose will cause unconsciousness before death...

Does one get to choose their own method of death here in Texas or is that court/state mandated? Only asking because I know in some other states the prisoners are able to choose the method at times.

It's disturbing that people in general have to be constantly reminded of this common sense advice.
Crime is part of life, and any adult, law abiding person with an ounce of common sense should know this, just in general.

My comment has zero to do with this heinous crime.....just a comment on people having to consistently be reminded to not be stupid.

a large dose of fenanyl, pushed too quickly, may create a side effect known as "woody chest" which makes the recipient have difficulty breathing and feel short of breath. The sniveling prison reformers would have a field day with that. But I agree, almost any of the barbiturates are smooth induction drugs that have long histories of working well.

In Utah, you can choose your method of execution. They have 4 guys on death row right now and they are all electing for the firing squad.
