Message from the TCU Athletics Department Compliance Staff:
On behalf of the TCU student-athletes, we are thankful to have your support for TCU athletics.
Part of our charge as an athletics compliance office is to reach out to supporters of TCU athletics and provide education on aspects of NCAA rules that impact them.
One area of recent concern throughout the country, involves supporters of an athletics department communicating with recruits. While NCAA rules and regulations are admittedly complex, the rule involving fan communication with recruits is straightforward. If any fans, boosters, alumni or any other supporters of TCU have any contact (e.g., in-person, instant message, posting messages to Facebook, text message, e-mail, fax, etc.) with a recruit, even those that have singed a National Letter of Intent, there could be serious consequences such as:
TCU would have an NCAA violation to report to the NCAA enforcement staff;
TCU would have to rule the recruit temporarily ineligible and then seek reinstatement through the NCAA office before any further contact between TCU coaches and the recruit could occur; and
The fan/booster/alumni involved could jeopardize their standing with the TCU athletic department.
To prevent this violation and others, contact the TCU compliance office with any and all questions you may have about NCAA rules. For more information about NCAA rules, visit the TCU compliance website at: http://gofrogs.cstv.com/compliance/tcu-compliance.html
