OMAHA, Neb. — On cloud nine after an impressive performance in its College World Series debut Saturday, TCU came back down to earth — but not without a fight — in its second game Monday night.
Two days after TCU became the first team since Georgia Tech in 1994 to win its inaugural CWS game, UCLA dominated early and hung on for a 6-3 win.
The Bruins (50-14) jumped to a 5-0 lead after three innings, and that was enough support for starter Gerrit Cole, who allowed five hits and struck out 13 in eight innings in front of 23,345 at Rosenblatt Stadium. ...
