Walsh's Double-Double Leads TCU to Win

MANHATTAN, Kan. - A back-and-forth battle ended in favor of the TCU volleyball team as they scored the 3-2 (22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 17-25, 16-14) victory over Kansas State on Saturday night inside Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan., with junior Anna Walshleading the way with her first career double-double of 15 kills and 12 blocks.
After having a late lead in the fifth set, the Horned Frogs (11-14, 3-10 Big 12) let the Wildcats (9-17, 2-11 Big 12) come back to take a 14-13 lead and have a match point. TCU did not falter as clutch digs by Dani Dennison along with three straight kills from Abigail Buckingham gave TCU the final set 16-14 and the match.
Buckingham led the team with 16 kills followed by Walsh's 15 kills and Lexi MacLean's 12 kills and Ashleigh Martin's 10 kills. Dani Dennison picked up 25 digs in the match to lead the team while Berklie Baker was good for 13 dig. TCU recorded 14.0 blocks as a team with Walsh's 12.0 leading the team followed by Lamprini Konstantinidou's career-high 6.0 blocks.

11 - Anna Walsh became the 11th player in program history to record 10+ blocks in a match as she recorded the first double-double of her career. The 12.0 blocks Walsh recorded is tied for the second most in program history in a single match.

"We haven't played our best volleyball on the road this year especially in conference play. It was nice to get this win tonight. Our girls had a lot of grit and they fought really hard.
"We started really slow and not very sharp and making a lot of unforced errors and net calls. We shouldn't be making those kinds of errors. We sharpened up the rest of the match so it was really good to see that. One of the other great things about this match is that it is our second road trip of the week and that is not easy. We have not gone back-to-back in two road matches in a week in a pretty long time. Our girls had to really take care of their bodies to perform well tonight and I think that they did that. They are putting in the work off the court and then they really stuck together and worked really hard on the court. It was a great performance by them. This was the first win in Manhattan for the Frogs in program history and it is the first season sweep of Kansas State for the Frogs so I am really proud of our team for coming together and getting that done."
