FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team looked sharp in its lone preseason exhibition match as the Horned Frogs won four of the five sets played against Texas A&M on Saturday, Aug. 19 inside The Rickel. TCU took the opening four sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22, before dropping the final set to the Aggies, 15-10.

In a match that saw 16 of the 17 players take the court, TCU controlled the pace from the get-go as they shut it down at the net with 10.0 total team blocks as well as 61 kills to take the first four sets played. Leading 8-7 in the fifth set, the Frogs could not hold on as Texas A&M won eight of the final 10 points played to win its only set of the match.

Abigail Buckingham saw the court for the first time in her career as the redshirt freshman led the team with 12 kills and only three errors on 22 swings for a .409 hitting clip. Transfer Lexi MacLean led the team on both offense and defense as she scored a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Dani Dennison donned the libero jersey for four of the five sets and was good for 25 digs and three assists. Quotes of the Match
TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer
Opening Statement
"First of all, I want to thank our fans for coming out. We had a full gym for an exhibition. If that is the environment to set the tone for the whole season, then I am pretty happy about that. People were in it and the gym was packed. It was a lot of fun. When you have a bunch of people in the gym, it gives your team a ton of confidence because they have people behind them. Not only were you there, you were in it too. That was fun stuff.

"With our team being so young, you just kind of never know what to expect. We have been practicing really hard and we have been letting them get after it every day. It is nice to see hard work pay off and it is nice to see that just because we have someone else on the other side of the net, not a lot changed if anything we got a little bit better. That was fun to see. I am looking forward to getting after it with this group next weekend."

Notes
-The exhibition match against Texas A&M marked the first against another team in preseason for the first time in program history. The NCAA recently approved teams playing each other in an exhibition match for the 2017 season.
