NEW YORK – TCU (23-15) will play Georgia Tech (21-15) for the championship of the National Invitation Tournament Thursday at 7 PM CT at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN with Bob Wischusen (Play-By-Play), Fran Fraschilla (Color) and Kris Budden (Analyst) calling the action. The game can also be heard on KLIF AM 570, KESN ESPN 103.3 FM, FrogVision, TuneIn Radio with Brian Estridge (Play-By-Play) and John Denton (Color). There will also be a national radio broadcast on Westwood One with Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play) and Kelly Tripucka (Color).

THE OPPONENT
Georgia Tech, the No. 6 seed on its quadrant of the NIT bracket, defeated CSU Bakersfield, 76-61, in Tuesday’s semifinal. The Yellow Jackets are led by freshman forward Josh Okogie, who is averaging 16.2 points per game. Like TCU, GT is led by a coach in his first season with the program, Josh Pastner.

THE SERIES
The Frogs are 0-2 all-time against Georgia Tech with both defeats coming in the 1960’s in Atlanta. The two teams last met on Dec. 21, 1967, a 70-61 win by the Yellow Jackets. The first meeting was a 112-87 Georgia Tech win on Dec. 1, 1965.

FIRST SINCE
• TCU’s 11-game victory improvement over last season is tied for the second-largest in program history, equaling the 1930-31 team that went 18-4 after the 1929-30 squad was 7-10 (11 games). The TCU record is a 13-game improvement from 1922-23 to 1923-24.
• TCU advanced to the finals of the NIT for the first time in school history.
• TCU has reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since 21 wins in the 2004-05 season.
• TCU won a postseason game for the first time since 2012 and obtained its first NIT win and postseason road win since 2005.
• TCU defeated an AP No. 1 team for the first time in school history when it beat No. 1 Kansas on March 9.
• TCU advanced to the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship for the first time in school history.
• TCU had a representative on the All-Big 12 team for the first time since 2015.
• TCU won three-straight conference games for the first time since the 2007-08 season when it was in the Mountain West.
• TCU’s win over Iowa State was its first in 20 years.
• TCU’s win at Kansas State was its first win in Manhattan in 18 years.
• TCU won at Texas for the first time in 30 years, back when Jamie Dixon was a senior.
• TCU swept the season series over Texas for the first time in 30 years.
• TCU’s six conference wins are its most ever in the Big 12. TCU is in its fifth season in the league.
• TCU was over .500 in conference play through 11 games for the first time since the 2004-05 season, also at 6-5.

CROAK NOTES
• TCU will be playing in its first postseason championship game.
• 38 games played is the most in school history. The previous record was 35 on two occasions.
• March 30 is the latest date TCU has ever played a men’s basketball game. It was March 26, 2015, an 85-73 loss to Maryland.
• Tuesday was TCU’s first game at Madison Square Garden. Jamie Dixon is 27-15 at MSG.
• 23 wins ties for the fourth-most in a season (1983, 1992). It’s the most wins in a season since the 1997-98 season (27-6).
Jamie Dixon has had a 20-win season in 13 of his 14 seasons as a head coach.
Vladimir Brodziansky (Second Team and All-Defensive), Jaylen Fisher (Honorable Mention), Alex Robinson (All-Newcomer) and Kenrich Williams (Honorable Mention) all earned postseason honors from the Big 12 Conference.
• Brodziansky was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention by the AP as well as NABC All-District 8.

• Williams (13/10 vs. FS) recorded TCU’s first double-double in the postseason since Lee Nailon (27/14) in the 1999 NIT vs. Oregon.
Brandon Parrish is TCU’s career leader in games played.
Alex Robinson has led TCU in assists 30 times this season and has had at least four assists in all but five games this season.
• Robinson ranks fourth for the most assists in a season at TCU with 217.
Vladimir Brodziansky ranks second in the Big 12 and 30th nationally with 2.1 blocks per game.
• Brodziansky’s 81 total blocks ranks as the second most in school history for a single season.
Jaylen Fisher is out for the season with a broken left wrist, sustained during TCU’s game with Fresno State on March 15.
