GoFrogs: TCU Needs Extras Again, Tops K-State 1-0

MANHATTAN, Kan. – For the second day in a row, No. 3 TCU needed extra innings to defeat Kansas State. Luken Baker broke a scoreless tie in the 10th to help TCU secure a 1-0 victory over K-State on Saturday afternoon. The win is TCU’s seventh in a row.

The Rundown
For the second contest in a row, the game went to extra innings without a run scored. For TCU, it wasn’t for lack of base runners as it stranded eight in the first five innings. Kansas State mustered just five base runners in the entire game.

TCU was finally able to break through in the 10th inning. Cam Warner opened the frame with a base hit. Evan Skoug followed with a base knock to move the go-ahead run into scoring position. Luken Baker lined a single into right field to drive in Warner with the go-ahead run.

Durbin Feltman locked up a masterfully-pitched contest by the Frogs with a 1-2-3 10th inning to register his seventh save of the season.

K-State’s best opportunity to score came in the first as it had a runner on third with two outs. Nick Lodolo racked up one of his four strikeouts on the day to keep the runner there. He tossed a career-high seven innings and allowed just two hits in the no-decision.

Haylen Green (2-0) picked up the win in relief of Trey Morris. He came on with a runner on first and nobody out in the ninth. A strike ‘em out/throw ‘em out double play ended the inning with no damage.
