GoFrogs: TCU Opens 2-0 at Bayou Beach Bash
MONROE, La. — After Day One of the Bayou Beach Bash, the TCU beach volleyball team stands at 2-0 after beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-0 and Houston Baptist 4-1.
The Horned Frogs close of the Bash Saturday with a 2 p.m. meeting with Central Arkansas and a 4 p.m. encounter with host ULM.
“It’s going to be tough,” TCU beach coach Hector Gutierrez said. “We need to keep concentrating and play our best to beat those teams. Both of those teams played well today.”
With the two wins Friday, the Horned Frogs have won three straight matches to improve their record to 11-7.
“We really focused on our game today,” Gutierrez said. “We started out a little slow, but we concentrated and we did a pretty good job. We played simple and we did the little things we needed to do. I was really happy with what I saw.”
Dating back to Sunday, the team of Jaelyn Greene and Amy Neal have won five straight matches after a pair of wins Friday, while the team of Jillian Bergeson and Shane Peters, and the team of Claire Doyle and Bridget Odmark have tallied three straight wins each with two victories Friday.
Avery Arellano and Madison Borowski teamed up Friday and beat Madison Woods and Makenzie Coats of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 21-8, 22-20, and Sarita Mikals and Ariah Palter picked up the first of two wins by beating TAMU-CC’s Madeleine Doud and Mary Katarzynski 21-3, 21-8.
