GoFrogs: Soccer Introduces 2017 Signing Class

FORT WORTH -- TCU women's soccer head coach Eric Bell has announced the 2017 signing class featuring 10 student-athletes. The 10 signees along with the three newcomers that joined the team in January bring TCU's signing class to 13.

The signing class features four athletes from the state of Texas, two from Florida and one each from California, Minnesota, Missouri and Oklahoma. Representing Texas are Haley Birmingham (Prosper), Natalie Heiser (Arlington), Astrid Souto (Allen) and Whitney Sullivan (Missouri City). Hailing from Florida are Danielle Eule (Lutz) and Haley Mallion (Fort Lauderdale). Isabelle Juarez heads to TCU from San Dimas, Calif. Callyn Loughrey represents the state of Minnesota (Lino Lakes).Yazmeen Ryan heads to TCU from Norman, Okla. Ellen Donlin hails from Chesterfield, Mo.

Haley Birmingham GK Prosper, Texas (Prosper HS/Sting Soccer Club)
Played club soccer for Stuart Hilton with Sting Soccer Club ... teammates with Astrid Souto ... helped lead her team to the regional final match ... captain of her high school varsity soccer team in 2016 and 2017 ... was a member of the academic all-district team for three years ... earned first-team all-district honors as a freshman and second-team all-district accolades as a sophomore ... voted co-goalkeeper of the year during her junior year.

Bell on Birmingham
"With Haley being local, we've known about her and her skill set for a while now. She's a very good goalkeeper that will come in and compete to play with our returning goalkeeping unit. Haley is a wonderful shot-stopper with a very good kicking game. She has a commanding presence which will allow her to lead and direct our back line."

Ellen Donlin MF Chesterfield, Mo. (St. Joseph's Academy/Lou Fusz Club)
Played club soccer at Lou Fusz for head coach Dave Geerling ... earned first-team all-Metro team in 2015... was a second-team all-Metro team in 2016... was also a first-team all-region performer in 2016 ... attended numerous TCU soccer camps.

Bell on Donlin
"We identified Ellen at one of our ID camps. She is a fierce, no nonsense competitor. She is a versatile player who I see playing in the midfield or on the back line for us. Ellen is very comfortable on the ball but also plays with a bit of bite. She comes from the talent-rich St. Louis area where her high school is always competing to win the state championship on a yearly basis. She will fight to earn playing time right away."

Danielle Eule MF Lutz, Florida (East Carolina University/West Florida Flames)
Graduate transfer from East Carolina University ... played in 41 games and started 20 at ECU ... missed the 2016 season due to injury ... was a two-year captain under coach Sue Peet at Steinbrenner High School ... also a member of the 2011 FSHAA 3A state championship team ... earned Steinbrenner MVP as a midfielder and team MVP honors during her career ... honored as a Laker-Lutz News first-team selection ... received St. Petersburg Times All-Hillsborough County first-team accolades and Tampa Tribune All-Hillsborough County second-team recognition ... also named an All-Western Conference American Division first-team choice.

Bell on Eule
"We are very excited that Danielle has decided to join us. She will bring experience as well as leadership into the locker room. Danielle is a very hard working young lady that will run through a brick wall to win. She is very good in the air, can run all day and is very competitive. She will be a very nice addition to our midfield."

Natalie Heiser F Arlington, Texas (Mississippi State/FC Dallas ECNL)
Transfer from Mississippi State ... redshirted last season due to an injury ... lettered all four years at Arlington Martin High School ... named the District 4-6A MVP and the team's MVP in 2015... earned District 3-5A MVP honors in 2014 ... led Martin to three district championships, while appearing in the region's semifinals once ... scored 10 goals and added three assists in her junior season ... played under head coach Matt Grubb at FC Dallas ECNL ... led her club to the playoffs in three straight seasons ... scored 14 goals with the club in her sophomore season on the way to a 12-3-3 record with FC Dallas ... Bell on Heiser
"We are very happy that Natalie has decided to return "home" to be closer to family and friends. She is a wonderful attacking player that the fans will enjoy watching. Natalie is a very creative player on the ball that understands how to beat defenders off the dribble. She is very dangerous in and around the box with the ability to score goals in a lot of different ways. She will be a big help in our attack."

Isabelle (Izzy) Juarez D San Dimas, California (Bishop Amat Memorial HS/Legends FC)
Played for coach Josh Hodges and Legends FC 99 ... helped lead her club team to a USYSA National Championship in 2013 and 2015 ... team was a finalist in 2014 ... qualified for the championships in both 2016 and 2017 ... captain of her varsity soccer team at Bishop Amat Memorial High School ... three-time selection first-team all-league ... first-team all-area in 2017 ... also a standout in the classroom, recognized as a scholar athlete all four years of high school and a member of the National Honor Society.

Bell on Juarez
"Izzy is a very good defender who can play as a center back or an outside back. She comes from a very good club environment with Legends FC and will compete for playing time right away. She is accustomed to competing for national championships and her training mentality will be infectious within our team."

Callyn Loughrey D Lino Lakes, Minnesota (High Point Univeristy/Minnesota Thunder Academy)
Transfer from High Point University ... played in 38 games with 24 starts in her two seasons at High Point ... graduated from Hill-Murray Catholic Benedictine Prep School ... five-year letter winner ... led her team in goals scored as a senior ... named Classic Suburban All-Conference in 2011-12 and 2014 ... played club soccer with the Minnesota Thunder Academy ... seven-time State Cup Champions (2007-2013).

Bell on Loughrey
"Another young lady coming in with a great deal of college playing experience. Callyn is a good athlete that will compete for playing time in the back line. She is very comfortable on the ball and good in the air. She will compete for playing time right away."

Haley Mallion MF Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Saint Thomas Aquinas HS/Sunrise Sting Soccer Club)
Has been a member of the U17 Bahamian National Team (2013) ... first-team All-County in 2016 and 2017 ... three-time Florida State Champion ... was a regional finalist with Sunrise Sting Soccer Club and head coach Scott Shewey... named the defensive MVP of her high school team.

Bell on Mallion
Haley is another young lady we identified at our ID Camp. She is wonderful on the ball with good vison. Her passing play is quite good and her understanding of the game is at a very high level. She has a championship pedigree and will compete for playing time."

Yazmeen Ryan MF Norman, Oklahoma (Norman North HS/Oklahoma Celtic/Sting ECNL)
Coached by Don Rowther with the Oklahoma Celtic ... nominated for Gatorade Player of the year in 2014 ... member of the ODP Regional Team III in 2015-16 ... traveled with the team to Costa Rica in 2015 and Brazil in 2016 ... helped lead her high school to the state championship in 2014 ... was the Defensive Player of the year in 2014-15 ... was the Offensive Player of the year in 2015-16 ... scored 13 goals and had seven assists as a junior.

Yazmeen is a very gifted athlete and soccer player. She has the ability to impact the game from any position on the field. Her technique and vision are very good, while her athletic ability to explode by people is second to none. She will be a force to be reckoned with upon her arrival."

Astrid Souto D Allen, Texas (Allen HS/Sting Soccer Club)
Captain of her Sting club team in 2015-16 and Allen High School team in 2016-17 ... club teammates with Haley Birmingham ... helped lead club team to the North American Cup Championship in 2016 ... led Allen to a district championship in 2016 ... was recognized as first-team all-district all four years ... also a standout in the classroom as a member of the honor society all four years ... received an Academic All-State award her senior year.

Whitney Sullivan MF Missouri City, Texas (Ridge Point HS/Challenge Soccer Club)
Coached by Chris Maravalli with Challenge Soccer Club ... won the defensive MVP award as a freshman and the newcomer award as a sophomore ... received the Academic Excellence award in 2014 ... was a three-time first-team all-district honoree ... also a standout in the classroom, receiving the academic all-district award three times.

Bell on Sullivan
"Whitney is a very good athlete and soccer player. Her mentality and work rate set her apart from her peers. She is very comfortable on the ball under pressure. She is also very good in the air. Whitney will compete for time in the midfield."
