Preview: NCAA Tournament At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - The TCU women's soccer team makes a return appearance in the NCAA Tournament Friday night as it takes on Arizona in the opening round of the tournament. Game time at Murphey Field is set for 8 p.m. (CT).

TCU NOTABLES
• TCU received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, its second in program history.
• TCU enters Friday's match having played in four straight overtime games (1-1-2).
• TCU's 12 wins are tied for the second-most in program history (2016).
• TCU advanced to the championship game of the Big 12 Tournament for the third time in the last six years.
• This year's senior class earned its 40th career win with an overtime victory against Baylor on in the regular season finale, extending their record for the most wins in a four-year period in program history.
• TCU suffered its first overtime loss of the season in Sunday's game against Baylor.
• TCU has played a school-record nine overtime games this season. The Frogs are 5-1-3 in overtime this season.

ARIZONA NOTABLES
• Arizona is making its third appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last three years.
• The Wildcats are hosting for the first time since 2015.
• Arizona finished fourth in the Pac 12 with a 7-2-2 record in league play.
• Arizona enters the match unbeaten in its last seven games (5-0-2).
• Arizona has faced six ranked opponents this season (2-3-1).
• Offensively, Gabi Stoian leads the Wildcats with four goals and 10 points.
• In goal, Lainey Burdett has played every single minute of the season. She boats a 0.73 goals against average and has tallied seven shutouts.

TCU VS. ARIZONA NOTABLES
• TCU and Arizona have never met on the soccer pitch in program history.
• The Wildcats are the sixth new opponent on the TCU schedule this year, including ULM, Colorado, Ball State, Northeastern and Kansas State.

NCAA TOURNAMENT NOTABLES
• TCU made history in 2016 when it earned its first-ever bid into the field of 64.

OWNING HER NET
Since taking over the starting goalkeeper role 13 games ago, Katie Lund has helped the Frogs go 7-4-2. She has allowed just eight goals on 51 shots for a 0.60 goals against average. Six of the seven wins have come via the shutout.

She was name the Defensive Player of the Tournament last weekend after making 19 saves on 23 shots faced as well as stopping a shot in each of TCU's penalty kick sessions.

On the season, Lund owns an .843 save percentage and a 0.58 goals against average. She has posted seven of the eight shutouts.

PRODUCTION COMPANY
TCU boasts the third-best offense in the Big 12 with an average of 4.71 points per game and 1.57 goals per game.

Fourteen Horned Frogs have contributed to TCU's 99 total points this season. Ten Frogs have scored a goal, while 11 have registered at least one assist.

CORNER TO CORNER
The Horned Frogs are one of the top teams in the country in generating corner kicks. TCU averages 7.57 corner kicks per match, a mark that ranks fourth nationally and first in the Big 12. The 161 total corner kicks taken are the second-most in the NCAA.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Emma Heckendorn's assault on the record books continued this past week as she tallied a pair of assists. She became the all-time assist leader in TCU's win over Ball State with her 19th career assist, surpassing Allison Calleri's (1996-99) previous record 18. She now has 22.

Additionally, she has wasted little time climbing the points charts, cracking the top 10. Her two assists last week gave her 54 career points moving her into a tie for fifth place all-time on the TCU career charts (Allison Calleri, 1996-99).

OVERTIME QUEENS
TCU extended its school-record with its ninth overtime game on Sunday night, falling for the first time in the extra session this season. TCU has won nine of its last 16 overtime games dating back to the start of the 2016 campaign. The Frogs are 9-2-5 in those 16 games.

STINGY FROGS
TCU has allowed no more than two goals in a game this season. The Frogs have held opponents to one or no goals in 17 of the 21 games played this season.
