Game Notes

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU opens its 107th season of men’s basketball when it hosts ULM Friday at 8 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.

The second-year of the Jamie Dixon era begins with the first of three home games over five days. TCU will host Tennessee Tech on Monday at 8 p.m. and South Dakota on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Friday’s game will be broadcast on FOX College Sports and streamed online at Fox SportsGo.com. The game can be heard on 88.7 FM KTCU and streamed online through FrogVision and the TuneIn Radio app.

Notes
- TCU holds a 69-37 record in season openers and 55-13 when opening the season at home. The Horned Frogs have won 15 of the last 17 season openers, including the last three.
- Prior to Friday’s game (7:45 p.m.), TCU will present rings to the 2017 NIT Champions at center court.
- Friday is Jamie Dixon’s birthday. Born in North Hollywood in 1965, he will turn 52 years old. Dixon is 1-0 as head coach on his birthday with the win coming on Nov. 10, 2007 when Pittsburgh defeated North Carolina A&T 88-61.
- TCU was 4-0 last season with the projected starting lineup of Alex Robinson, Desmond Bane, Kenrich Williams, JD Miller and Vladimir Brodziansky. Those four games were the last four of the season and all occurred in the NIT.
- TCU has won seven of its last eight games dating back to last season.
- TCU is receiving votes in the preseason top 25 polls. The Frogs earned 46 points in the AP Poll, which would be ranked 29th, and 32 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which would be ranked 30th.
- TCU returns its top six scorers from last season’s team that went 24-15, finished tied for seventh in the Big 12 and won the NIT, including all five starters.
- TCU returns 79 percent of its scoring and 79 percent of its rebounding from last season.
- One season after winning its first postseason tournament, TCU will try to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. Since 1985, 58 percent of the teams that won the NIT made the NCAA Tournament the following season.

About ULM
- ULM is in Monroe, La. and has an enrollment of 9,115.
- ULM is led by junior forward Travis Munnings, who was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team.
- Munnings led the Warhawks in scoring (13.2) and rebounding (8.1) last season. His rebounding ranked third in the Sun Belt.
- ULM, which went 9-24 (2-16, SBC) last season, was picked to finish 12th in the Sun Belt in October.

About the Series
- TCU is 1-3 all-time against ULM.
- ULM won the last meeting 90-79 on Dec. 14, 2002 in Fort Worth. TCU sophomore Corey Santee scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and had a game-high nine assists. Santee, a 2017 TCU Letterman’s Hall of Fame inductee, is in his first season as a graduate assistant at TCU.

They’re Back
TCU returns its top six scorers from last season, including all five starters. Altogether, the Frogs return 79 percent of their scoring and 79 percent of their rebounding from last year. Kenrich Williams is the Big 12 Conference’s top returning rebounder after averaging 9.7 per game last season. Vladimir Brodziansky’s 14.1 points per game is the third-most of a returning player in the conference.

Coaching with Experience
This season, Jamie Dixon will be the head coach of a team that returns all five starters for the first time in his 15-year career. In 2010-11, Dixon’s Pittsburgh team returned four starters from the 2009-10 season. The 2011 team went 28-6, won the Big East Conference and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

High in the BPI
On Nov. 1, ESPN released its BPI rankings where it ranked TCU ranked fifth with a 24.3 percent chance to win the Big 12 Conference. The BPI is a predictive model of team strength that incorporates a variety of factors including the past performance of the coach and players on the roster, recruiting rankings, and the percentage of minutes returning.

For Country
Sophomore guard Desmond Bane (USA) and Lat Mayen (Australia) each accepted an invitation to their country’s U19 training camp during the summer.

Hot in November
TCU won seven of its final eight games last season. The Frogs hope to continue the momentum in November like they have in the past. Over the last three years, the Frogs have gone 17-2 in the month of November and was a perfect 7-0 last season as they won their first eight games of the season.

Preseason All-Conference for Brodziansky, Williams
Vladimir Brodziansky and Kenrich Williams became the first TCU men’s basketball players to earn preseason all-conference honors since Hank Thorns in the Mountain West Conference in 2012. Brodziansky was one of five to earn Preseason All-Big 12 Conference and Williams was named honorable mention. Brodziansky earned second team All-Big 12 Conference honors last season after averaging 14.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. Williams averaged 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds and was named All-Big 12 honorable mention last season. Brodzinasky was joined on the preseason team by Jevon Carter (West Virginia), Jeffrey Carrol (Oklahoma State), Devonte’ Graham (Kansas) and Zach Smith (Texas Tech).
