PALM DESERT, Calif. – Junior Triston Fisher shot a career-best 4-under 68 to finish the first round tied for third place at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

Competing as an individual, Fisher shot five birdies overall and had no bogeys on the back nine. The score of 68 beat his previous best of 69, which he last shot at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate this season. Fisher is two shots back of the overall leader, Peton Wilhoit of Southern Illinois who shot 6-under 66.

Junior Stefano Mazzoli shot his eighth sub-70 round of the season at 3-under 69. Mazzoli had seven sub-70 rounds all of last season. He is tied for ninth overall.

Junior David Ravetto shot 1-over 73 and is tied for 33rd, while junior Turner MacLean shot 3-over 75 and is tied for 69th. Hayden Springer is tied for 84th and Pierre Mazier is tied for 78th.

As a team, the Horned Frogs are tied for 10th with a score of 5-over 293. No. 19 California leads the 23-team field at13-under 275.

Second round action at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., begins at 11 a.m. CT.
