GoFrogs: Baseball Opens Practice Friday Afternoon

FORT WORTH – Preparations for the 2018 baseball season officially get underway on Friday as the TCU baseball team hits the field for its first official practice of the season.

Under the guidance of 15th year head coach Jim Schlossnagle TCU has made four straight trips to the College World Series. He has guided TCU to a 615-272 record over the last 14 seasons. The Frogs have appeared in 13 NCAA Regionals, seven NCAA Super Regionals and five College World Series.

For the second straight season, the Horned Frogs will take the field on Opening Day as a top-10 team. In the four polls released so far this season, TCU is a consensus top-10 team ranked as high as No. 3 in the Perfect Game poll and as low as No. 9 by Collegiate Baseball. Both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com have ranked the Frogs No. 7.

Luken Baker has earned a quartet of first-team preseason All-American nods, while Jared Janczak has been recognized as a second-team preseason All-American by four publications. In addition to returning 16 letterwinners from a year ago, the squad welcomed 15 newcomers in the fall that comprised the nation’s No. 14-ranked recruiting class.

TCU opens the season on the road at Grand Canyon on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. (CT). The Frogs home opener is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 20 against UT Arlington at 6:30 p.m.
