FORT WORTH – No. 3 TCU rallied to tie the game with a three-run eighth inning, but a solo home run in the ninth helped Kansas avoid the sweep with a 4-3 victory on Sunday.

The Rundown
Kansas built a 3-0 lead with a two-run sixth inning and a solo run in the seventh. Meanwhile on the mound, Jayhawk starter Jackson Goddard twirled seven no-hit innings.

TCU drew six walks off of Goddard but couldn’t capitalize until Ryan Merrill drew the fifth one in the eighth. Connor Wanhanen broke up the no-hitter with a double to the left center field gap to put two on with one out.

A walk to Austen Wade loaded the bases. Cam Warner hit a high-chopper for an infield single to make it a 3-1 game. Evan Skoug followed with a two-run single to tie the game.

The come-from-behind win was not to be for the Frogs as Owen Taylor hit a solo home run with one out in the ninth to give the lead back to the Jayhawks.

TCU had a chance to tie the game in the ninth after a lead-off two base error, but Kansas pitched out of the jam to record the win.

Brian Howard tossed 5 2/3 innings in the no-decision. He allowed two runs on three hits, walked three and struck out four. Charles King tossed 1 1/3 scoreless frame. Sean Wymer (1-1) took the loss after giving up the run in the ninth.
