DMN: Here's why Ben Hicks should remain SMU's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season

Adam Grosbard, SMU football beat writer for SportsDayDFW.com and The Dallas Morning News, answered questions about the Mustangs and the American Athletic Conference during a live chat recently. Here are some highlights:

Question: Do you think Ben Hicks is going to end the season as this team's starter?

Grosbard: Yes, I do. The staff is very pleased with Hicks' performance and believes that his numbers would look a lot better if not for drops by his receivers or his throwaways to prevent taking sacks. Gillins is still learning the playbook and seems to have passed Peavey on the depth chart. I don't see Gillins surpassing Hicks in terms of knowledge of the offense before the end of the season.
