TCU head coach Gary Patterson doesn’t accept losing seasons. He’s had just three of them since taking the helm of the Horned Frogs in 2000.

So after finishing 5-7 and missing a bowl in 2019, Patterson and the Frogs know there has to be improvement heading in to 2020. Just where that improvement needs to be, however, is still open for debate.

Here are five burning questions for TCU heading into next season.

Hopefully nobody...

actually, i would hope and actually think this offense needs to find another reagor.

the bigger issue is which version.

2017 alamo bowl bowl jalen reagor yes please.......2018 oklahoma state reagor damn straight.....heck, even 2019 ou jalen where they were grabbing him damn near every time in the secondary.

jalen's season this year is as good an example of the chicken and egg issues of the frogs offense this year and last as any other.

yes, he dropped passes, he broke off routes, he didn't always give his best efforts.

he also still at times made some great catches like that grab along the sideline in stillwater, he didn't always get much help for cumbie's formations and lack of motion to get him free from jams, and how many times did max have him clear of everyone and duggan airmailed the pass instead.....

Once again, from ESPN:
No receiver in the country has suffered more from his situation the past couple of seasons than Reagor. It's not simply the shoddy quarterback play at TCU but also the offense around him. Defenses knew where Reagor was lining up snap after snap, as 653 of his 786 snaps last season came at right outside wide receiver. From there, TCU coaches made no effort to get the ball into their most dynamic playmaker's hands; Reagor was targeted on only 11 screens. In fact, 162 players in college football have seen more screen targets this year than Reagor. For a receiver who will almost surely run in the 4.3s and have a vertical jump around 40 inches, that's difficult to believe.
It ain't just the FFF posters that are down on Cumbie.

But he was also seen as a panacea for a really [ Finebaum ]ty offense. Hopefully nobody has to try to "save" the offense every game like we hoped he would/could.

i agree, but every team playing in the cfp at times depends upon great athletes to make great plays in their schemes.

in hall honesty, his entire career at tcu sums up the questions about this offense.

a mixture of big plays, frustration about missed opportunities, and questions about why he isn't more present in the offense

Taye Barber is already very very good and is going to get better and better. Hopefully, Dylan Thomas gets healthy again, liked what we saw before his injury. Not really worried about the receivers, we have some talent there. Pro Wells could be scary good.
