DieHards: TCU named College Football Playoff 'dark horse' by NBC Sports
TCU football is coming off a disappointing 2016 campaign, but NBC Sports’ Zach Barnett says the Horned Frogs could be a “dark horse” in the College Football Playoff race.
The Frogs were one of three sleeper picks for Barnett, along with Wisconsin and Notre Dame. TCU went 6-7 last year, only its third losing season ever under Gary Patterson. And as Barnett notes, the Frogs bounced back in a big way after each of those campaigns.

In 2004, TCU went 5-6. A year later the Frogs finished 11-1, won the Mountain West Conference in their first year in the league and closed the year with the first of Patterson’s top-10 final rankings. In 2013, TCU stumbled to a 4-8 mark and roared back to a 12-1 2014 season, narrowly missing the Playoff but ending the year at No. 3 in both polls.
