CNHI: TCU relishing underdog role
by Eric Prisbell | CNHI Sports
FORT WORTH -- Once the perception of the Big 12 received a boost with Oklahoma’s victory at Ohio State on Sept. 9, a narrative emerged about the league’s path to the College Football Playoff revolving entirely around football in one state: Oklahoma.
As the thinking went, the two quarterbacks -- the Sooners’ Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph -- would continue to amass video game-like statistics, torching the rest of the Big 12. The Sooners and Cowboys would battle in Bedlam, one of the national games of the year. A presumed rematch in the Big 12 title game could serve as a virtual CFP play-in game for one or even both.
