which requires the ncaa to take a stand. remember that in the case of penn state it was not until penn state released the freeh report the the ncaa "leapt" into action.

unfortunately, baylor hasn't released a similar report and i don't see the report from that philadelphia law firm ever being released for public review.

without any evidence the ncaa is not going to act on conjecture and after what happened with miami and the shapiro fiasco they aren't going to use any evidence they can not show was rightfully and legally acquired.

Penn State and Baylor really aren't comparable situations. At Penn State, no NCAA rules were broken and neither the Athletics program nor individual student-athletes materially benefited from covering up Sandusky's pedophilia. So when the NCAA stepped into that situation, it stepped into a purely criminal matter in which it had no jurisdiction. That's why they got slapped down.

But At Baylor, the Athletics program and individual student-athletes did receive impermissible benefits. They athletes were shielded from institutional judicial investigation and processes by coaching staff who covered up or failed to report their activities when those activities were made known to them. That is a benefit not available to all students and extended solely on the basis of their status as athletes, which is an NCAA violation. Moreover, the only reason the coaches did this was to keep those players eligible so that the program could benefit from their contributions, another NCAA violation.

So in the case of Baylor, there's no way to make the case that the NCAA is just being cautious. They aren't cautious, they're just craven.

Surely they will take 3 scholarships away from Boise State for this.

ncaa has shown time and time again they do not want to wade into a school's legal issues with athletes. been that way for decades and the only reason it happened at penn state was due to public outrage.

what ncaa rules were broken at penn state? unfortunately the criminal code is no the jurisdiction of the ncaa and if crimes against human decency were a true problem for them they would have stepped in at numerous institutions.

i will say it again the issue is not the resources to keep this quiet on the baylor campus, but the political pull being used in this state. does anyone truly believe paxton is going to turn the rangers loose on baylor and law enforcement agencies in and around waco that have covered this up.
PSU was all about a dirty coach and other coaches/administrators covering it up.

Much different from Baylor where every player who got his rape swept under the rug so he could play football received an impermissible benefit that wasn't available to every other student on campus not playing a revenue generating sport.

That's why the NCAA should be involved. And that's why the NCAA should make an example with a new major sin. Instead of "lack of institutional control" Baylor should be hammered for "supreme and corrupt institutional control" and become the warm-up game on Incarnate Word's schedule.

Baylor needs to hire all law enforcement officers in their administration. Their problem is so sickening and it has killed their sad institution.

I’ll let this play out. It is possible that Baylor is handling this process appropriately. At least it doesn’t appear it’s being systematically covered up. And that’s a step.

It is sad to hear the culture hasn’t changed overnight under Rhule, but it’s not surprising. That will take time, and sadly sexual assault happens on every campus.

Even dirtbags can get it right Best post on the thread so far ... except for those neighing in posts.

Waco's law enforcement was a major part of the issue. I think that would make things worse. Imagine the cover up control then.
