Seriously? That's a terrible job of negotiating by Sumlin. As dumb as these massive buy outs are, what happened at A&M shouldn't have anything to do with his AZ salary imo.

I was a CBB Coach in a previous life. That is the way it worked. Schools can get better coaches and not have to lay out big money.

I could be wrong here, and agree that is normally how I understand it to work, but the talk on texags has been that the ags owed Rumlin the entire amount by some date pretty near after his termination rather than over the contract term and therefore not subject to new employment reductions. More masterful aggy negotiating.

I don't think I was clear. AZ can use leverage to pay less because he is already getting paid by the loser aggies.
