When did NM start running the triple option?

Within the past couple years. they were 9-4 (6-2) last year, were co-champs of their division, and won a (albeit low tier) bowl game. In 2015, they went 7-6 (5-3) and made a bowl game (lost to Arizona by 8 points). Definitely an improved program over the past 4-5 years.
