Daily Oklahoman: Big 12 football returns to mediocrity

Well, the Big 12 returned to mediocrity over the weekend.

OSU did what it should have done – rout Pitt, 59-21 – and Texas Tech won a 52-45 shootout over equally-beleaguered Arizona State.

But Texas let Southern Cal squirm free and the Trojans won 27-24 in double overtime, Kansas State’s offense was a no-show in Nashville as Vanderbilt won 14-7 and Duke beat suddenly-listless Baylor 34-20.

Did not read the entire article, but was it really as bad of a weekend for the big 12 as the headline reads? Besides the Kstate loss what else was really terrible? He mentions OSU doing what they were supposed to do? They absolutely throttled Pitt at Pitt much more than #4 Penn St. did in College Park. I'd say they performed above and beyond "what they were supposed to do". The Frogs, while parts looked ugly, still covered on a lot of the betting lines despite SMU emptying the rival playbook. Tech still beat a Pac-12 team, albeit a bad one. Texas took #5 USC to 2OT at their place. No need to speak about Baylor, they weren't even favored.
